Spicy Crab and Avocado Cocktail

Here's a wonderful little "Sidewalk Crab Cocktail" with a zippy character.

bullet042 cups chopped Roma tomatoes
bullet041/2 cup fresh lime juice
bullet041/4 cup salsa (commercial brand of your choice)
bullet042 tablespoons catsup
bullet041 teaspoon granulated sugar
bullet041 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
bullet041 teaspoon prepared horseradish
bullet04Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
bullet043 medium avocados, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch chunks
bullet041/2 pound cooked Dungeness or other crab meat (very fresh, please!)
bullet041/2 cup finely diced sweet onion
bullet048 cilantro sprigs for garnish

In a blender or food processor, combine the tomatoes, lime juice, salsa, catsup, sugar, hot pepper sauce, and horseradish. Blend to a coarse puree. Adjust seasoning, adding salt and pepper and perhaps more sugar or horseradish to taste (NOTE: can be prepared up to 6 hours ahead and refrigerated until ready to use).

In a bowl, gently toss together the avocados, crab meat and sweet onion, then divide between 8 cocktail glasses. Spoon some of the tomato puree over the top of each and garnish with each with a cilantro sprig and serve.
